Continuous Multimodal Biometric Authentication Schemes: A Systematic Review

چکیده

Building safeguards against illegitimate access and authentication is a cornerstone for securing systems. Existing user schemes suffer from challenges in detecting impersonation attacks which leave systems vulnerable susceptible to misuse. A range of research proposals have suggested continuous multimodal biometric (CMBA) as reliable solution. Though contemporary the potential change their current scheme, there lack critical analysis progress field foster influence practical solutions. This paper provides systematic survey existing literature on CMBA systems, followed by identify discuss future trends. The study has found that many diverse characteristics are used majority studies reviewed apply supervised learning approaches classification technique, score level fusion predominantly model. review determined however comparative design terms combinations types (behavioural only, physiological or both), machine algorithms (unsupervised semi-supervised learning), models. Most evaluated system’s accuracy functionality, such False Acceptance Rate (FAR), Rejection (FRR) Equal Error (EER). However, security, scalability usability (user acceptance satisfaction) generally not addressed thoroughly even though these key factors system success real deployment. Furthermore, should be implemented extensively data without restriction prove feasible.

Multimodal Biometric Hand-Off for Robust Unobtrusive Continuous Biometric Authentication

Conventional access control solutions rely on a single authentication to verify a user’s identity but do nothing to ensure the authenticated user is indeed the same person using the system afterwards. Without continuous monitoring, unauthorized individuals have an opportunity to “hijack” or “tailgate” the original user’s session. Continuous authentication attempts to remedy this security loopho...

Authentication Using Multimodal Biometric Features

Multimodal biometric systems is the consolidated multiple biometric sources, which enable the recognition performance better than the single biometric modality systems. The information fusion in a multimodal system can be performed at various levels like data level fusion, feature level fusion, match score level fusion and decision level fusion. In this paper, we have studied the performance of...

Multimodal Biometric Authentication Methods: A COTS Approach

We examine the performance of multimodal biometric authentication systems using state-of-the-art Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) fingerprint and face biometrics on a population approaching 1000 individuals. Prior studies of multimodal biometrics have been limited to relatively low accuracy non-COTS systems and populations approximately 10% of this size. Our work is the first to demonstrate that...

Secure continuous biometric-enhanced authentication

Biometrics have the potential to solidify person-authentication by examining "unforgeable" features of individuals. This paper explores issues involved with effective integration of biometric-enhanced authentication into computer systems and design options for addressing them. Because biometrics are not secrets, systems must not use them like passwords; otherwise, biometric-based authentication...
